This is a beautiful HDR. That it's from a single raw file just makes it even better. I've heard alot of people who are supposed to know their stuff say that HDR from one raw isn't possible.

Wrong! :P

I'm very impressed by this, I have to ask...What format did you save the exposures in and did you apply a toning curve?

You're all a bunch of fuckin assholes. You know why? You dont have the guts to be what you wanna be. You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your fuckin fingers and say "Thats the bad guy." So... what that make you? Good?

thanks for you kind words, when i get shots like yours il be satisfied lol.

i have a number of shots not uploaded, just helping my partner, but wil
load them up when i have time to finish the postwork.

ive been experimenting heaps with formats, and taking opinions from
many on DA.

i personaly use Capture NX, i only use 3 steps of 2ev rather then 5 steps of 1ev.

save them as 16bit tiffs, then import to CS2 (3 maybe better) to create the HDR file as
i feel CS has better HDR compression then photomatix.

then depending on the photo i use CS or photomatix depending on what look i want.

this case i just tone mapped it in photomatix, then adjusted curves (badly as u can see the
skyscapper lacks heaps of contrast) white balanced and sharpend (was a point and shoot)

then save as PNG.

ur files are realllyyy crisp what format is ur final product saved as?

I save my files as .PNG now, though some of my older ones are JPEG.

The crispness (which I actually really aim for, it isn't an accident =P) comes from a few things. The most important one is a tripod. Even a cheap one. I want to get a manfrotto but at the moment I'm using a $20 nexxtech. It really makes a difference. Though this picture of yours looks very crisp.

Also, I shoot RAW format. What's great about raw is the quality of the file and flexibility to post process it later. If you have any DSLR you should be able to shoot in that format. I tend to use an unsharp mask in photoshop, it helps too. Hmm and try to master curves. I havent yet but I'm workin on it. =P

That's what I do anyways, thanks for the info on your HDR work :D

yeah we just invested in a manfrotto NO REGRETS.

we were using a $20 for ages, i shoot with a remote as well, even using manfrotto, releasing shutter manually moves it that micro millimetre and wil destroy the clarity in a 3 raw hdr.

i do pretty much exactly as you but hmmm your fotos seem that little bit more crisp. if u dont mind id like to feature your work on my partners page.

cheers for the info

Yeah I need to get a remote. I must be doing something thats become second nature, cause I can't think of what else...Mostly sharpening and noise reduction in Adobe Raw, and color and tone melody go a long way too. I think it's something you just gotta develop in your own art, yaknow? I know an artist, he's been offline for nearly a year but his hdr and other work will blow your mind. But I wanted to point you to one of his journl entries. It's great, give it a read: [link]

I'm flattered about the feature, could you link me to the page once its up?

Cheers!
